Bio

Painting has always been part of my identity. I want people to look differently at the beautiful, the unusual and the commonplace. Inspired by the old masters and later Impressionists, I try to faithfully represent objects, but with an eye for an unusual element, subject or subtle level of surprise. The struggle is in meticulous observation to see beyond distracting details and capture only the essential. My approach to painting is of working in many thin layers, each adding a luminous depth to the final composition.
