Potter Danielle Skentzos is happy to be returning to the Images Studio Tour again this year. Growing up on a farm not too far from where she lives now, she has always enjoyed the local scenery and has continued to find inspiration close to home. Danielle is sure to stock some of her classic designs and will also have some special new pieces to share. The past year has been the busiest yet for Danielle with small group pottery classes occurring monthly. You can bring a small group of your own, or join a group to learn either hand building or wheel throwing skills. Danielle continues to spend time volunteering as a board member for FUSION, The Ontario Clay and Glass Association. Currently the Director of the Creative Directions and Mentorship programs, she works to help bring unique learning opportunities in the field. A recent example of this community building is when she worked with Amy Bell and the Ottawa Guild of Potters to bring John Britt to Canada for a glaze chemistry workshop. Danielle founded Shiralee Pottery to share her functional work, inspired by the beauty found near home. Her work is available in her online store, the Gardiner Museum Shop and a few local spaces. Enjoy the back road views and visit Danielle’s home studio to unearth a sense of what makes handmade feel like home.
