Doug Symes creates inspiringly unique, carved in local and exotic wood, boxes, that will hold your attention and your treasures. Doug is a self taught woodworker with an avid infatuation for wood in all its irregularities, worrn holes, wavy grains, colours and knots. The beauty of the wood is shown off in each box through his free form carving and hand sanding to a velvet smooth finish, along with a coat of polyurethane , then hand waxed. The sometimes addition of colour staining gives a new vibrant look to these already captivating boxes.
