Following the traditions of generations of great painters, Pauline Bradshaw has dedicated many years to the intensive study of classical art. As a student, she was granted rare access to HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s private library at Windsor Castle to research and copy selected old master drawings.
“I'm inspired by classical drawings and paintings from the legendary 19th century French and British ateliers. There was a compelling dedication to technique and uncompromising craftsmanship in their work. My training has allowed me to continue in this tradition and I try to convey this passion in my work.”
She paints a meticulous representation of reality with immense subtlety in composition and technique.  Ordinary objects are elevated to a poetic awareness. In still-life, there is a suggestion of deep space in opposition to the familiar foreground objects. In figurative works, edges are endlessly interesting to create a visual dialogue.
Bradshaw passes along her extensive knowledge of academic techniques in private studio classes and workshops including the National Gallery of Canada. Her paintings and drawings can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, Britain and Italy. She is a member of the “Society of Canadian Artists”, the “International Guild of Realism” and is an inaugural member of the group of Canadian realist painters “The Group of Twelve”. Pauline has appeared on Bravo television's 'Star Portraits'.
